As with the
answer above, it cannot be a primary job of ours to try to
defuse the GM issue in the wider social context; there are
other organisations which focus more specifically on this.
On the
other hand GMAP will affect all of us in our industry and we
spend much time addressing and explaining that; in the
process we also try to defuse the issue where (frequently!)
we have evidence of unwarranted antagonism which hinders
realistic decision-making. With the benefit of our
expertise, we can help by explaining the procedures of
plant-breeding and seed-production, the international nature
of our industry and the biology of the crops we work on, and
the practical realities which result. |
