Monsanto is indeed
focused in four crops areas -- corn, soybean, wheat and
cotton -- and certainly there's applicability of technology to
other crops.
For instance the
basic insect-protection technology achieved by using the
"Bt" gene is a concept that can be applied in other crops.
Given that,
Monsanto's worked with interested companies who want to pursue
these
research areas and has established a number of licensing
agreements that
have been underway for some time that facilitate other
companies looking for
new and different applications. |
