Douglas J. Dorsey - Monsanto Company - USA

Some of your technologies have applications for crops in which Monsanto does not wish to be involved. How can other, smaller companies gain access these technologies and bring them to market in their own seed products?
Monsanto is indeed focused in four crops areas -- corn, soybean, wheat and
cotton -- and certainly there's applicability of technology to other crops.

For instance the basic insect-protection technology achieved by using the
"Bt" gene is a concept that can be applied in other crops. Given that,
Monsanto's worked with interested companies who want to pursue these
research areas and has established a number of licensing agreements that
have been underway for some time that facilitate other companies looking for
new and different applications.
