Syngenta issues the 13th edition of Syngenta Peppers Today, the newsletter for the world of peppers, with a focus on NAFTA region

The multinational company Syngenta has issued the 13th edition of Syngenta Peppers Today  through S&G and Rogers brands. Syngenta Peppers Today is a communication tool specifically centred on the world of peppers, and it has been developed for all Syngenta clients in the business chain, with information on production, processing and trading.

“We wish to offer our clients a comprehensive insight into the most important pepper production and marketing activities in various regions around the world” explained Mr. Marco Toapanta, Rogers Product Business Manager for Peppers for the NAFTA region. “In this issue, we will take a close look at the pepper and hot chilli business in the NAFTA region (North American Free Trade Agreement), which includes Canada, the USA and Mexico”, affirms.

The 13th edition of Syngenta Peppers Today focuses on:

  • Peppers in Mexico: Mexico is the second most important sweet and hot pepper-producing country in the world, surpassed only by China. Read this article to know about current pepper production trends and market dynamics within the Nafta region.

  • Interview with Divemex: one of the leading Mexican companies that cultivate peppers in high-tech greenhouses. In addition to peppers, particularly bell peppers and specialties, Divemex also grows tomatoes and cucumbers and it specialises in the export of peppers to the United States. Mariano López, Production Manager of Divemex in Culiacán, spoke to us about the success achieved by Divemex and the challenges facing the pepper sector in Mexico.

  • Pepper consumption in the USA: According to top consumer professionals in the USA, coloured and chilli peppers are becoming more and more popular in American cuisine. This report offers official figures on current pepper consumption and trends in the USA. 

  • Interview with Paul Bosland: There are few people who know more about peppers in the USA than Paul W. Bosland. He is a researcher in the Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences at New Mexico State University, USA, and Director of the Chile Pepper Institute. His book entitled “Peppers: Vegetables and Spice Capsicums”, written in collaboration with E.J. Votava, was published recently by CABI Publishing.
