U.S. Independent Professional Seed Association launches new website featuring a "Members Only" section and a search engine for farmers

Omaha, Nebraska
October 17, 2008

The Independent Professional Seed Association (IPSA) has unveiled a new website, www.independentseeds.com, as the next step of an ongoing campaign to promote independent seed companies. The site features a "Member's Only" section, as well as a search function to locate IPSA members. "The aim of the new design is to drive farmers to the website, where they can locate Independent Seed Companies who market products in their area" said Greg Ruehle, IPSA's CEO.

Over the past several months, IPSA has been taking steps to ensure that Independent Seed Companies hold a more prominent position in the marketplace. In April a new logo and tag line were implemented as a first step to proactively market the value of independent seed companies to the farmer. IPSA leadership hired Jones & Thomas Marketing Communications from Decatur, Illinois to develop marketing tools and to host IPSA's new website.

The new website will provide farmers with direct access to independent seed company members, and also allow associate members of IPSA to advertizing their services to independents and farmers alike.

Ruehle continued, "IPSA is excited to continue working with our membership to spread awareness of the advantages of working with independent seed companies. Next steps in the campaign include direct mailing pieces and additional advertisement opportunities, increasing visibility of our member seed companies to America's farmers."

The Independent Professional Seed Association (IPSA) was formed in 1989 by a group of independent seed producers who recognized the need for an organization to represent independent seed companies world-wide. The Association addresses research and biotechnology issues and increases the media presence of the industry in an increasingly competitive and dynamic business climate. IPSA represents more than 100 seed companies from 20 states and Canada, who produce nearly 20 percent of the corn, soybeans, small grain and forage seeds marketed annually.
