A project proposal of
Indian Institute of
Pulses Research, Kanpur to double the breeder seed
production from 9220 quintals in 2007-08 to 18660 quintals by
2011-2012 has been sanctioned under National Food Security
Mission (NFSM) Pulses. States have been requested to place the
indent with Department of Agriculture & Cooperation for making
available the breeder seed of pulses so that the production of
certified seeds of pulses can be doubled in the next five years.
Government of India under NFSM – Pulses has sanctioned the
following project of Indian Institute of Pulses Research, Kanpur
during 2007-08:
(i) Strengthening of Infrastructure for breeder seed production
through IIPR National Agriculture Research System (NARS) for
Rs.10.00 crores (at the rate Rs.2.00 crores per year) for the
entire 11th Plan.
(ii) Strengthening of training infrastructure and organizing
training programme through IIPR and State Agriculture
Universities for Rs.5.00 crores for the entire 11th Plan.
This information was given in the Lok Sabha today by Shri Kanti
Lal Bhuria, Minister of State for Agriculture in a written
