The first open meeting of the new
Seed Association of the Americas will be held Friday, December
9, 2005 from
3:00 p.m. util 5:00 p.m. in the Buckingham Room, West Tower,
Hyatt Regency Chicago.
The purpose
of the Seed Association of the Americas (SAA) is to promote the
interests of the seed industry in the Americas.
The
organizing members of SAA are the national seed associations in
Argentina, Canada, Chile, Mexico, Uruguay and the United States.
There are
three classes of membership – ordinary (national seed
associations), associate (seed companies) and affiliate (other
seed related organizations).
The agenda
for the public meeting will review the formation and purpose of
SAA, dues structure, membership types, a discussion of priority
issues - intellectual property, technology, harmonization of
rules and procedures and education and training, and
establishing committees and the structure to handle the issues.
The meeting will be open to all who are interested. There will
be time for an open discussion, so have your questions and
comments ready. |
