Production
Manager
LOCATION: Ranebennur,
Karnataka, India
POSITION SUMMARY:
A.
Summary of job responsibilities:
1. Manage in a cost effective, timely and reliable way Home
Farm and vegetable seed production in India. Ensure
consistent high quality seed and technical knowledge of new
varieties.
2. In coordination with the Seed Supply Managers and other
production managers, manage day-to-day business aspects with
Indian vendors and provide on-site crop supervision.
3. Provide technical and logistical support to the Seed
Supply Managers and other production managers.
4. Provide up-to-date information on local issues impacting
the production business in all Indian production areas, to
include:
- Production costs and pricing
- General and vendor specific economic circumstances
- Governmental and plant health regulations
- Vendor capacity, capability and grower base
- New opportunities in terms of vendors, areas and growers
5. Investigate new areas potentially suitable for vegetable
seed production in India.
B. Supervision:
Directly Supervised
1. Home Farm Manager
2. Farmers Supervisors
N.B. The Production Manager will be provided with some
direct administrative support from Clause India in Hyderabad

1. Home Farm managers – day-to-day. Supervisor : employee
reporting and information exchange.
2. Technician for farmer supervisor – day-to-day reporting
and information exchange
3. Seed Supply Managers – frequently. Production plans,
technical, logistic and business issues.
4. VP Production – frequently. Supervisor: employee
reporting and information exchange.
5. Other production managers – often. Production plans,
technical and logistics issues.
5. Clause India Administration – day-to-day. Grower
payments, operating costs, and other accounts payable.
6. Clause India Manager – Budget and general local
management support.
7. Hyderabad ,Modesto and Valence production administration
– often. Logistical issues.
8. Breeders – as required. Issues not solved at Home Farm
management level.
Outside Contacts
1. Vendors – day-to-day. Business and performance
management, technical and logistical support.
2. Other seed company personnel – as required. Competitive
intelligence.
3. Governmental regulatory personnel – as required.
Regulatory affairs.
4. Other VCO companies – Requested farm activities
5. Miscellaneous contacts – as required for general
economic, costing, pricing and new area information.
JOB
REQUIREMENTS:
A.
Educational Requirements (or equivalent experience)
Required: BS in an agronomic science or agricultural
business
Preferred: MS in an agronomic science or agricultural
business with strong emphasis on vegetable seed science
B. Experience Requirements:
Required: 5+ years vegetable seed production
supervision
C. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities (include PC skills):
Required: Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated
team player, fluent in English and Hindi and preferably
Kananda speaking, knowledge of India seed production
business, skills in budgeting and expense management, good
analytical capacity, problem solving and decision-making,
planning and resource management skills. General PC skills a
must.
Preferred: Consistently strong to very strong in all
of above.
