POSITION: Senior Scientist, Marker-Assisted Breeding
Job location: R & D Centre, Rasi Seeds P Ltd. Attur,
Tamil Nadu, India
Job description:
-
Plan and execute experiments
using molecular marker tools in crops such as rice, cotton
and vegetables for developing markers for agronomic traits
-
Manage molecular / trait
breeding activities using upstream techniques in molecular
biology and ensure proper project advancement within
allocated resources and timelines
-
Validation of DNA marker
technology arising from new developments and scientific
advances and acquisition or development of new technologies
or methodologies as appropriate
-
Interact with
multidisciplinary team involving Plant breeders and
molecular biologists for advancing and development of
elite/new germplasm for hybrid seed production
-
Report project progress and
achievements
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
The candidate should have
Ph.D. in Agricultural Biotechnology or related field with
knowledge and experience in plant breeding and molecular
biology for at least 5 years; must be below 35 years age
-
Work experience with
molecular biology techniques including molecular marker
development and application, PCR-based methodologies,
and gene zygosity analysis is preferred.

Familiarity with
automation, statistics/data analysis and bioinformatics
tools are highly desirable.

Knowledge in plant
biology, plant genetics, and transgenic event sorting is
advantageous.

Demonstrated technical or
scientific successes in molecular/trait breeding are
desirable
-
Practical knowledge in
agricultural/molecular statistics is essential
