POSITION - Team Leader, Genetic Transformation

Job location: R & D Centre, Rasi Seeds P Ltd. Attur, Tamil Nadu, India

Job description:

• Lead the team of researchers in tissue culture and genetic transformation of rice, cotton and vegetable crops

• Supervision, control and maintenance of a high throughput plant genetic transformation lab

• Planning and execution of projects in genetic transformation including insect pests ,viral and fungal bioassays as necessary 

• Maintain awareness of new scientific advances in crop genetic transformation through active monitoring of internal and external activity and participate in or lead the acquisition or development of new technologies or methodologies as appropriate 

• Secure intellectual property protection as appropriate and maintain awareness of intellectual property landscape and evolutions

• Monitor and follow up transgenic events for regulatory system 

• Report project progress and achievements

Required Skills and Experience:

• The candidate should have Ph.D. in Biotechnology with specialization in crop tissue culture and genetic transformation, and experience for over 5 years; must be below 35 years age

• Knowledge in methods of tissue culture and transformation in crops

• Capabilities to interact with international institutes for acquiring new technologies as necessary

• Expertise in molecular analysis of transgene identification, tracking and bioassay analysis of transgenic crop plants 

• Knowledge in IPR issues related to gene technologies

• Knowledge in regulatory mechanisms for transgenic crops production

• Proven ability to interact with public and private sector in technology adoption including regulatory issues

• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are required

• Demonstrated project leadership and management experience is desirable
