BROAD FUNCTION AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION:

Work with Del Monte seed and vegetable operations staff to manage internal and external inventories, seed booking and purchase, customer communications and product delivery. Work with Del Monte vegetable operations to provide timely information on inventory, quality, traffic, and production costs. Serve as the primary information and communication manager for Del Monte Seed Operations with its internal customer base.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Work with seed operations field, plant and front office staff to develop and assure timely release of reports on inventory, seed costs, variable costs, and raw material and manufacturing costs. Work with Del Monte vegetable operations’ farm superintendants, product manager, breeders and agronomists to forecast stock seed needs and develop production plans. Actively participate in monthly crop team meetings with field, research and seed personnel.

• Work with vegetable operations field staff to assure seed orders are complete, timely, and fully meet information and quality needs. Work with product manager and agronomists to follow up on seed issues in the field. Visit processing plants to establish personal relationship with customers. Provide operational and financial transparency to Vegetable Ops management.

• Work with outside seed vendors to assure that future bookings are accurate, that current orders are fully filled and that economies of scale are leveraged. 

• Assure both DM and purchased seed arrives at the plants on time and transportation efficiencies are maximized.

• Track seed inventory quality and volume. Work directly with outside seed testing labs. Develop annual routine seed write-off procedures. 

• Act as liaison for development of new seed inventory program. Assure that both Seed Ops and Vegetable Ops needs are fully realized during the development of and transition to new program.

QUALIFICATIONS & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

• BS degree in agricultural field

• Minimum 5 years related experience

• Expertise in customer service, seed quality and inventory management

• Excellent interpersonal, planning, and communication skills

• Strong skills in data management programs and systems development

• Team-oriented
