We seek a motivated candidate in our Plant-Virus Interactions
role which is an opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary
team investigating key challenges to identifying, genetic
mapping and introgression of virus resistance in our core
vegetable crops. The candidate will participate in
multidisciplinary teams associated with these projects and
develop research targeted at basic understanding and commercial
application of virus resistance.
The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. (or near
completion) in plant pathology/virology, genetics, plant biology
or related field, and a strong understanding of virus
symptomology (experience with gemini, tospo, or poty viruses in
Solanaceae or Cucurbitaceae crops is preferred). The candidates
must have experience with field and laboratory work; be skilled
in collecting and analyzing experimental data; and possess the
ability to track and manage complex projects. Excellent
interpersonal and communication skills for operating in a
diverse team-oriented environment are essential. Desired skills
include bioinformatics and use of molecular techniques and
inoculation methods to diagnose and investigate plant disease.
Strong knowledge of Genetic statistical theory, experimental
design, genetic mapping and quantitative genetics applied to
plant breeding is also desired.
