Job Description
The Field
Analytics Manager will be a member of the Field Analytics
team within the BASF Plant Science organization.
This team performs critical activities necessary to advance
BPS's plant breeding and biotechnology projects from idea to
marketplace as fast and effectively as possible.
This Field Analytics Manager will be responsible for
performing techniques for the preparation, extraction, and
compositional analysis of plant tissue or seed samples in a
high-throughput environment.
The Field Analytics Manager will support Field Analytics
Assistants and Associates in the execution of work, ensuring
that project goals and time lines are met.
Additional responsibilities for this position are:
preparation and processing technical reports and summaries
from quantitative or qualitative analyses, develop
laboratory protocols, evaluate and recommend new methods and
technologies, and writing reports and presenting results.
The Field Analytics Manager may also oversee broad aspects
of laboratory workflow and the activities of staff engaged
in sample inventory management and laboratory analysis.
Qualifications
Required
-
PhD with 2 years, M.S.
with 7 years or BS with 10 years of experience in
destructive compositional analysis of plant tissue or
seed samples using preparative and analytical
instrumentation. BASF recognizes Institutions of Higher
Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher
Education Accreditation or equivalent.

Proven ability to identify
and "trouble shoot" technical problems by application of
scientific principles and established analytical
techniques in the field, especially related to LC -
Understanding of basic proximate analysis techniques and
to database systems for collecting, viewing, and
reporting analytical data.

Demonstrated ability to
identify and address technical problems of a highly
complex nature.

Communicate effectively
with laboratory managers verbally and through written
reports, and supervise laboratory analyses to meet
deadlines.
Preferred
-
LC analysis of plant
samples.

Commercial or industrial
laboratory experience using high-throughput automated
analytical instrumentation.

Knowledge and experience
with database-instrument integration is a plus.

Candidates should have
demonstrated skill in organizing a laboratory and should
have demonstrated commitment to detail and accuracy.
