POSITION: Storage and Shipping Manager

Location: Research Triangle Park, North Carolina

Job Description

The Storage and Shipping Manager will be a member of the Development team within the BASF Plant Science organization. This team performs critical activities necessary to advance BPS's plant breeding and biotechnology projects from idea to marketplace as fast and effectively as possible. The Storage and Shipping Manager will provide expertise dedicated to regional and global seed storage and shipping of biological material, many of which will be regulated and subject to compliance practices. The Manager will functionally supervise the activities of, and train, employees involved in storing, shipping and receiving biological materials at several sites; maintain a centralized database to catalog seed inventory and track shipments; and develop activity forecasts and budgets for the storage, shipment, an receipt of BPS biological materials.

Qualifications

Bachelors or Masters degree in a biological science plus 5 (Bachelors) or 3 (Masters) years of demonstrated experience in seed science and technology or shipment and storage of regulated materials.
Such experience will include: logistical software employed in organizing and tracking shipments, and knowledge of vendors, service providers brokers, and agents involved in the shipment of regulated materials.
The position also requires strong, organizational, communication, interpersonal and time management skills along with the ability to work independently.
Proficiency with MS Office products is required.

Preferred: Strong preference for direct experience shipping and storage of regulated biological materials.
