POSITION:  Regional Sales Manager

Company: EMD Crop BioScience
Reports to
: Senior Director, North American Sales

General Overview of Position:

Represent the company with respect to sales, service and promotion of products to customers within a defined geographical area.
Supervise Sales Representatives and/or Sales Consultants assigned to the region.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Achievement of regional sales objectives as established in conjunction with Senior Director, North American Sales.

  • Direct, coach, assist and supervise regional Sales force.

  • Manage the region to maximize profits for EMD Crop BioScience both short-term and long-term.

  • Assist in developing region and territory sales forecasts and budgets. Track these forecasts for accuracy and make appropriate adjustments in the area of volume, pricing and program support.

  • Control expenses and costs within the region. Directly approve expense reports of sales personnel in the region.

  • Promote a favorable image of the company to the various stakeholders in a manner consistent with company policies and procedures.

  • Maintain adequate distribution and sales personnel in the region to effectively service existing and potential customers. Make recommendations for additions or reductions as appropriate.

  • Participate in sales meetings, training programs, conventions, and trade shows as requested.

  • Maintain up-to-date customer records in accordance with company instructions, and report all changes immediately.

  • Manage customer complaints in accordance with company policy; advise management promptly of any situations beyond his or her scope of authority. 

  • Manage warehouse inventories for warehouses located in the region.

  • Prepare and submit all reports as required.

  • Advise management of competitive products and merchandising practices.

  • Recommend addition, modification, or deletion of products to/from the portfolio.

  • Comply with all corporate and regulatory policies and directives.

Minimum Education and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in agricultural science or business.

  • Seven (7) years experience in agricultural product sales.

  • Well developed leadership skills.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Strong organizational / multi-tasking skills.

  • Willing to travel extensively.

  • CCA Certified
