Vibha Group is looking for suitable profiles for an Plant Breeders position.

Job responsibilities

• Survey, Collection, conservation and cataloguing of Germplasm.

• Evaluation, characterization and documentation of Germplasm.

• Creative thinking to implement better breeding processes to deliver hybrids/varieties to advance our market position with suitable products. 

• Development of new inbred lines.

• Utilize latest technologies to develop superior products in assigned crop with emphasis on agronomic traits such as yield, stability, disease/insect tolerance or any other appropriate quality character.

• Work in multidisciplinary dynamic environment and interact with commercial breeders, technology providers, trait developers, etc.

• Conduct trials, maintain breeding nurseries and evaluate.

• Analyze data statistically, summarize results and prepare reports.

Essential qualifications

• Ph.D. in Plant Breeding & Genetics/Horticulture from reputed institute with 2-3 years experience. or

• M.Sc. (Ag) in Plant Breeding & Genetics or related field with 5-6 years of research experience in plant breeding of the mandatory crop in a reputed seed company or public institution.

• Should possess good interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively in a team.

• Well versed in latest crop breeding procedures.

Additional qualifications

• Knowledge on application of new molecular tools in breeding program.

• Ability to use latest statistical packages.
