POSITION:
Field
Activity Coordinator (2 positions)
Mycogen Seeds, a wholly-owned affiliate of
Dow AgroSciences, has
multiple Field Activity Coordinator positions available in York,
Nebraska and Grand Ridge, Illinois.
This position serves as the primary field contact for seed corn
production which includes: grower contracting and management
(acreage planning, quality control, seasonal staffing, etc.)
vendor contracting and allocation, data collection and
reporting, and development and establishment of best practices
to support a world class seed corn production operation.

Manage
all aspects of grower management including field selection,
contracting, grower evaluation, grower payments, crop
insurance, etc. associated with seed production.

Manage
all seedstock ordering and allocation to the growers
including recording information into company database.

Develop
annual seed crop plans with growers.
-
Develop
and implement best practices that can be leveraged across
production locations.

Serve as
Team Leader/Coach for the location field team in setting
performance goals focused on safety, yield improvement, seed
quality, and cost control.

Coordinate the Integrated Pest Management program at the
location.

Implement
and coordinate the location quality inspection program
including hiring of personnel, data collection, and data
reporting to the State Improvement Association for field
certification.

Ensure
that company isolation standards are met.

Development and implementation of operating procedures
necessary to complete field work and ensure proper training
of field personnel.

Plan,
contract and coordinate independent contractors used for
rogueing and detasseling operations.

Assist
Production Leader in development of the annual budgets and
capital requests for equipment needs.

Collaborate with Production Research on projects to improve
yields and quality.

Cooperate
with Production Leader and production coordinators to
allocate personnel and equipment to meet location’s
production goals.

Job Requirements
-
Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Ag Education, Ag Business, or
other ag-related discipline.

Minimum
two years hybrid crop experience.

Experience with grower relations preferred.

Ability
to obtain a Field Crops pesticide applicator license.

Ability
to obtain a Certified Crop Advisor license.

Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal effectiveness, and
ability to lead and motivate teams.

Ability
to facilitate complex problem solving through good
organization, management skills, written and verbal
communication.
