POSITION:  Regional Sales Manager

Location: Research Triangle Park, North Carolina

Job Description

Throughout the 20th century, BASF has played a leading role in agriculture and nutrition. BASF Plant Science (BPS) was founded in 1998 and is represented at seven sites in four countries. With this international network of expertise, BPS is especially well equipped to be a leader in plant biotechnology, creating and commercializing innovative products to help keep the world's growing population well fed in the 21st century. The Regional Sales Manager will be a member of the Thurston Genetics sales team within the BASF Plant Science organization. This team performs critical activities necessary to advance BPS's plant breeding and biotechnology projects from idea to marketplace as fast and effectively as possible. The sales teams focus on promoting value chain coordination and the nutritional value of our products in the marketplace. The Regional Sales Manager responsibilities will include:

  • Selling seed corn genetics to seed companies throughout the Eastern one third of the United States.

  • Presenting performance data to the seed companies

  • Organizing all sales activity within territory, which include field days, seed conferences, order taking, distribution, quality assurance activities and agronomic service to the customer.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of BS in Agronomy, Plant Genetics, or Agriculture Business or 15 years experience in the seed business. 

  • Strong understanding of, and a minimum 8 years experience working with corn genetics

  • Demonstrated knowledge of plant biotechnology traits

  • 5 years experience in building and maintaining strong customer relationships within the corn seed industry

  • Ability perform analytics and communicate information to customer base

  • Strong computer skills required for presentations and data analysis –

  • Ability to use multiple presentation methods to effectively communicate to broad customer base. BASF recognizes Institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.
