Agronomist, Parent Seed Coordination

We are now hiring for an excellent career opportunity as a
Parent Seed Coordinator within our El Campo, Texas location.
As the Parent Seed Coordinator with Bayer's BioScience business
group, you will be accountable for the production, cleaning and
processing, and inventory management of a A-. B-, and R-line
seed lots used for F1 Hybrid Seed Production. The Parent Seed
Coordinator must liaise with other groups within BioScience to
ensure that adequate quantities of Parent Seed are produced and
available on a timely basis to supply to the Hybrid Seed
Production Team.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate all facets of
agronomic production following identified annual business
plan
- Adherence to strict
quality-control parameters for all internal and external
seed processing
- Inventory management of
pure, on-grade Parental seed suitable for the subsequent
hand-off to the Hybrid Seed Production team.
- Organize and execute seed
production activities including: identification and
contracting of appropriate growers, organize and arrange for
all necessary agronomic activities associated with Parent
seed production (i.e., planting, irrigation scheduling, pest
control, etc.
- Design and comply with
identified Quality Assurance (QA) procedures and maintain
necessary Quality Management Procedures.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree
in Agriculture/Botany/Life Sciences with emphasis on
Genetics/Crop Production. MSc in plant breeding/agronomy is
preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years in
hybrid parent seed production, with some experience in Rice
agronomy and genetics.
- The incumbent must be
organized and team-oriented, and possess leadership
abilities, proficient communication skills, personnel
supervision abilities, data collection and management
skills.
- General understanding and
ability to operate and maintain agricultural production
equipment
- Besides fluency with English, working knowledge of Spanish
- Ability to travel internationally
Preferred Requirements
- Some experience with
Portuguese language is desired.
- Experience in Hybrid Rice
seed production is strongly preferred.
