Spirou Group founded in 1947 has a major focus on corn, cotton and vegetable seeds and is dealing with breeding, research, production, development and distribution of above seeds around Mediterranean region.

To further strengthen our business in the above countries we are looking to fill this position.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for overseeing the production of corn hybrid seeds as well as auditing growers for sustainable, dependable, cost effective and quality conscious seed production practices. 

• Responsible for visiting all seed production sites on a continual basis, assessing the crop and educating the growers on best practices.

• Ensures that the productions meet quality parameters and are planted and delivered in timely fashion to the appropriate operation facility.

• Controls the costs in the area at an optimal level to maximize production without sacrificing quality.

• Develops and maintains a solid grower base to work with and to learn each grower’s ground and cultural practices to place production contracts in the best locations.

• Responsible for contributing to the development of a seed quality improvement plan, which will include also stock seed maintenance.

• Responsible for recording seed yields, diseases, off-types, nicking dates etc at each production site on every crop, putting this information into a variety specific hybrid corn seed production manual' format. 

• He will work with R&D and Sales to help develop a trial program, stock seed and breeding objectives, and help manage variety trials. 

• He will coordinate field cleaned seed shipments with Cleaning Coordinator, to allow for staggered seed receipts and an efficient seed cleaning treating & bagging system.

• He will be ‘home office based’ and need to be self motivated and understand how to deliver against stated company goals and objectives.

• He will have to travel very often and have a clear understanding of how to grow hybrid corn as well as be familiar with the Mediterranean seed market needs.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc degree in Agronomy, Plant Breeding or Seed Science.

• Candidate should possess PC proficiency with the MS Office computer software, specifically databases and Excel spreadsheets. 

• Knowledge and ability to develop experimental design for seed crop improvement and field trials.

• Must be detail orientated and able to work with little or no supervision in a team environment with a strong desire to succeed. 

• Ability to communicate with reporting levels in multi-national and cultural organization and effective communications with farmers, strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Prior production experience, knowledge of the production area, agricultural background in the same or related field and Certified Crop Advisor is preferred. 

• Languages spoken : English, Turkish, Arabic are considered as option
