We are looking for an enthusiastic
and motivated colleague to strengthen the flower breeding
department in Hillscheid, Germany with a Flower Breeder
(m/f)
The job is to be located at the
former Fischer site in Hillscheid near Koblenz. The job holder
will have to be located nearby the flower breeding station.
The job holder reports to the
Manager breeding Flowers.
The breeding crop portfolio is
assigned by the Manager breeding Flowers. The goals for the job
are to develop commercial varieties within assigned crops, in
line with the company strategy and/or aimed at the global market
Your tasks are:

To
develop commercial varieties within assigned crops, in line
with the company strategy and/or aimed at the global market
-
Develop
breeding programs for assigned crops, in line with the
product development strategy and in close
coorperation with other research disciplines
-
Prepare
and organize trials for a number of flower crops
-
Evaluate
experimental varieties in screening trials, according to the
guidelines
-
Make
plant selections, if applicable according to the given
instructions by the global breeders
-
Execute
the vegetative and/or generative reproduction of the plant
material. This includes maintenance of
breeding material and execution of crossing programs
-
Collect
and develop germplasm for assigned crops
-
Carry a
proper and transparent breeding administration
-
Give
instructions (general and corp specific) to the local
facility employees
-
Development and maintain an external relation network;
business partners, markets/growers, seed companies and
scientific world
-
Support
the Supply Chain production and logistics and marketing
department during preparation of the
introduction of new varieties by providing stock material,
variety descriptions and other required information
Your knowledge requirements are:

University degree in Plant Breeding/Plant Sciense or
equivalent knowledge gained through proven experience
-
Knowledge
of flower culture and genetics

German
spoken and high level English language
-
Organizational talent
-
Analytical thinker
-
Teamplayer with good communication skills

Creative,
pro-active and independent
-
International oriented to be able to work in international
setting

Computer
literate

Commercial awareness

Willingness to travel
