Job Description
The Lab
Manager will be a member of the Plant Management research
team within the BASF Plant Science organization. This team
performs critical activities necessary to advance BPS's
plant biotechnology projects from idea to marketplace as
fast and effectively as possible. These research and
development projects focus on enhancing crop performance,
productivity, nutritional value, and overall plant health.
The Lab Manager will lead Plant Management personnel in all
greenhouse and seed handling activities. These activities
include corn donor pollinations, transgenic seed production,
and processing and updating the seed inventory.
The Lab Manager's responsibility includes setting and
monitoring team member's goals, motivating reports for work
efficiency and coaching them in their professional
development.
The incumbent will also work with customers to ensure that
required services are properly described and rendered. This
individual will manage allocation of greenhouse and growth
chamber space.
Qualifications
Required
-
A
degree in biology, plant science, or related
agricultural field, with a minimum of 2 years experience
with a PhD degree, 7 years with an MS degree or 10 years
with a BS degree. Experience will include agronomic or
horticultural crop growth. BASF recognizes Institutions
of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council
for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.

minimum of 2 years experience growing agronomic or
horticultural crops in a greenhouse environment .

Experience growing and disposing of transgenic crops.

Must
have occupied a management position with demonstrated
success in working with customers, direct reports, peers
and other departments for a minimum of 2 years.
Preferred:
-
Important competencies include strong computer skills,
results orientation, decision-making and problem solving
skills, and team orientation.

Skills in managing greenhouse and growth chamber
facilities, including those required environmental
control.
