Commercial Corn Breeder
Location: York, Nebraska

company, is an Ag industry leader creating scientific
breakthroughs around the world. We have an opportunity for a
DROUGHT COMMERCIAL CORN BREEDER who will work as a member of our
multidisciplinary breeding team at our York, Nebraska location.
In this role the candidate will
assist in overseeing daily operations associated with a
comprehensive corn breeding and testing program aimed at
identifying high yielding hybrids for the Dryland and
water-limited environments across the Western Corn Belt.
Major responsibilities include
developing knowledge of corn environments, market needs, and
corn products. Additionally, the candidate will conduct
agronomic evaluations and make advancement recommendations to
support Monsanto's corn product pipeline while working closely
with the geography Testing Operations Managers on design and
continuous enhancement of a comprehensive testing programs,
which include the design and conduction of drought-related
agronomic studies. The candidate will also interact with the
line development breeding, breeding technology, trait
development, and commercial organizations, oversee the
administration of a research program and budget and ensure that
all ESH (Environment Safety and Health) and compliance protocols
are carried out.
The successful candidate will possess a PhD in Plant Breeding
and Genetics or an MS in Plant Breeding and Genetics or related
field with 8+ years plant breeding experience. The candidate
should have a strong background in plant breeding, genetics,
statistics, molecular biology, and molecular marker
applications. Proficiency with database applications,
spreadsheet software, experimental design, and statistics are
required. Individual must be results oriented, innovative, and
have proven leadership and organizational ability. Individual
must have demonstrated ability to write and speak English
fluently, and have excellent communication and interpersonal
skills. Experience in corn breeding is preferred.
