POSITION:
Research and
Development Specialist, Cotton Breeding
Do you have a desire to join an

supporting cotton plant breeding programs. If so,
Bayer CropScience
is seeking two Research and Development Specialists to support
cotton trait introgression activities at facilities in
Memphis, Tennessee.
Duties and responsibilities
include
-
activities such as planting, testing, pollinating,
harvesting, seed processing, data management;
-
troubleshooting and conducting maintenance and general
repairs of greenhouse facilities and site irrigation and
lighting systems management, aiding in the coordination and
scheduling of service providers, etc;
-
supporting acquisition of greenhouse stores, maintaining and
organizing facilities;
-
planning
for future needs;
-
supervising and training temporary employees;
-
assisting
with the monitoring and adjustment of greenhouse computer
control systems;
-
developing or revising protocols regarding equipment use,
maintenance or safety; \
-
participating and complying with all Environmental Safety
and Health programs; and
-
interacting with other Bayer CropScience cotton breeding and
research teams to further research efforts to enhance
the spectrum and success of BCS cotton programs.
The qualified candidate should
possess:
-
B.S. or
M.S. in Agronomy or related fields (i.e. Plant Breeding,
Horticulture, etc.), with 2-8 years of relevant work
experience.

Knowledge
of Microsoft office, including EXCEL and Word.

Greenhouse experience, or field research and seed production
experience.
-
Background or experience in insect pest management.
-
Ability
to work with a diversity of greenhouse and research
personnel.

Good
communication skills.
-
Demonstrated ability to meet timelines, troubleshoot complex
situations, and meet objectives.
Special Qualifications
pertinent to this position:

Ability
to work under very warm, humid conditions

Ability
to learn database and computer automated greenhouse systems.
