POSITION:
Soybean
Breeding Operations Lead
Job location: Janesville,
Wisconsin
Monsanto, an Ag industry
leader creating scientific breakthroughs around the world, seeks
a highly motivated individual who will be responsible for all
day-to-day operations & coordination of two soybean breeding
variety development research programs aimed at identifying high
yielding varieties for maturity groups I & II.
In this role the candidate reports
to the commodity variety development Breeder, consults w/both
Breeders on programs needs, assigns work priorities to research
staff, & sees that priorities are accomplished on time w/a high
degree of quality. Will manage & develop a diverse full-time
staff of Research Associates/Assistants & hire, train, &
supervise seasonal labor as needed. Will acquire & manage
equipment for effective & efficient program function & locate &
rent appropriate land to meet program requirements.
Additionally, will interact with other soybean breeding
locations & various depts. & manage the site's regulatory
compliance.
Required Skills/Experience:

B.Sc. or Master degree in
Plant Breeding, Agronomy, or related field.

Proven people leadership
skills & a strong desire to lead a highly skilled team.

Effective verbal & written
communication skills.

Ability to develop strong
relationships across the company.

Knowledge of research
equipment, crop production & farming practices.
-
Computer applications related
to data acquisition and analysis- Microsoft Office
applications.
-
Ability to interpret results.
-
Valid driver's license.
-
Experience in a soybean
breeding or production environment is desired.

Familiarity with soybean
germplasm & the use of molecular markers is desired.
