Crop Physiologist

Job Description
The Crop
Physiologist will be a member of the Plant Management
research team within the BASF Plant Science organization.
This team performs critical activities necessary to advance
BPS's plant biotechnology projects from idea to marketplace
as fast and effectively as possible. These research and
development projects focus on enhancing crop performance,
productivity, nutritional value, and overall plant health.
The Crop Physiologist will be responsible for developing
greenhouse assays to measure the physiological consequences
of transgene expression.
The individual will also support crop-based gene discovery
research in planning and developing field and greenhouse
assays, as requested by project teams.
Qualifications
-
PhD
degree in Plant Physiology, Agronomy, Plant Biology or
related field, with a minimum of 2 years experience in
conducting independent research.

Additional experience may be substituted for educational
requirement. BASF recognizes Institutions of Higher
Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher
Education Accreditation or equivalent.

Ability
to conceive novel scientific hypotheses on yield improvement
in corn and soybeans, and develop assays to test those
hypotheses.

Ability
to analyze and interpret experimental data on transgenic
plants using physiological assays and molecular analysis in
both greenhouse and field settings.

Ability
to measure a plant's performance in field environments in
response to stress conditions, preferably with experience in
corn or soybeans. - Preference will be given to those with a
strong background in crop physiology and development. -
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
