POSITION:  Research Associate

Seminis Vegetable Seeds, a division of Monsanto and an Ag industry leader, is creating scientific breakthroughs around the world & has an opening for a motivated RESEARCH ASSOCIATE at our Oxnard, California offices.

In this role the candidate will be an integral part of the Seed Technology team, responsible for conducting and analyzing multi-discipline research experiments aimed at improving seed quality and plantability. Will participate in multiple research projects group, demonstrate strong technical, analytical and troubleshooting skills in the area of seed enhancement (priming, pelleting, drying and storage, conditioning) and develop &/or optimize new or existing seed enhancement protocols. The candidate will use appropriate laboratory tools and resources including germination chambers, plug testing facilities, and analytical instruments to identify measurable, distinguishing features and characteristics during young plant development, as well as documenting findings. Additionally, the candidate will support and evaluate riming, coating and seed treatments and technology enhancements, perform a variety of research laboratory tasks and experiments, collect data, analyze data and interpret results, write reports and participate in Seminis ESH (Environment, Safety, Health) Program.

The successful candidate will possess a B.S degree with 2 or more years commercial experience in seed research. M.S. in Agronomy, Vegetable Science, Seed Physiology, or Plant Biology is preferred. Functional and technical proficiency to include seed or other agriculture experience and use of statistical analysis in problem solving and decision making is desired. Excellent communications skills including the capability to clearly present information and influence or persuade others through oral or written communications and strong decision making and problem solving problem are required.

Travel may be necessary on an occasional basis to Seminis international locations (Enkhuizen, Baja).
