Job Description
The
Quality Manager will work primarily with Development and
Breeding groups in BASF Plant Sciences to assure that
existing quality management principles and programs are
extended and further applied to seed and grain production
and trait evaluation.
The initial focus will be on corn but will further expand to
other crops grown in the Americas.
The Quality Manager will assume a primary role in extending
the design, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and
budgeting of these programs across the region, including the
further development of SOPs to ensure quality and tracking.
The Manager will also serve as a key contributor to the
further development of global policies relating to a broad
field- and seed- focused quality management program across
core crops throughout BASF Plant Sciences.
Qualifications
Required
-
Ph.D.
(plant biotechnology, or related) with 3 years direct
experience, or M.S (similar background) with 5 years
direct experience in the area of crop or seed quality
management in corn.

Demonstrated familiarity with the application of
industry accepted analytical tools (molecular,
antibodies) to quality management practices in GM crops,
with an emphasis on construct and event presence
detection, and monitoring of adventitious presence.

Ability to track and implement industry-accepted seed
quality and practice standards.

Demonstrated experience working in a GM regulated
environment.
Desired
-
Familiarity with soybeans and rice.
-
Background in assesment of seed quality and varietal
purity.

Demonstrated experience in a continuous improvement
environment (ISO, 6-Sigma, etc.).

Familiarity with use and application of databases and
tracking technology to quality management.
